On May 10–11, 2023, PHYSICS H2020 took part in the conference “Concertation and Consultation on Computing Continuum: From Cloud to Edge to IoT” in Brussels, Belgium.
The event’s first day was centered on concertation. While the more advanced Horizon 2020 projects and the Horizon Europe projects that started in 2022 discussed their assets and shared lessons learned and success stories, the invited Horizon Europe RIAs, which started in 2023, had the opportunity to pitch their projects and introduce the plans for the future. It was a crucial chance for the H2020 projects to seize and give the new RIAs, who have a clearer idea of the work they can build upon, access to their findings. CSAs like EU-IoT, SW Forum, and HUB4CLOUD highlighted the successes of the initiatives they had supported.
The focus of the second day changed to a consultation with the aim of fostering forward-looking ideas for the following Horizon Europe Work Programme (2025–2027). The finest short papers to be presented at the event were chosen through a Call for Expressions of Interest with fresh trends, vision, and research tracks. Any interested party might participate in the call, including academic researchers, business executives, EC-funded initiatives, policymakers, and SMEs. Initiatives, including SW Forum, HiPEAC, NESSI, AIOTI, European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud, INSIDE, and FIWARE foundation also presented research roadmaps.
